A letter from the founder
Why I started AgeTech Bharat.
My grandmother lived alone in her final years. She was sharp, independent and deeply proud of that independence. But as her health became more complex, the gaps became impossible to ignore — the difficulty of getting the right specialist, the confusion around medications, the quiet loneliness that no one quite knew how to address. She managed. But she deserved better. And I kept thinking: if this is the experience of someone with a family that cares, what does it look like for the millions who have far less?
That question stayed with me. India is ageing faster than most people realise. By 2050, we will have over 300 million people above the age of 60 — a number larger than the entire population of the United States. And yet, when I looked at where healthcare innovation was happening in India, the elderly were almost invisible. The startup ecosystem was building for the young, the urban, the digitally fluent. The founders who were trying to build for older adults were doing so largely in isolation — without clinical infrastructure, without manufacturing support, without investors who understood the space.
I started AgeTech Bharat because I believe that gap is not just a market opportunity. It is a moral one. The technologies that help older adults live with dignity, independence and good health are among the most important things we can build. And the founders who choose to dedicate their careers to this work deserve an ecosystem that takes their mission as seriously as they do.
That is what we have built at AMTZ — not a coworking space, not a workshop series, but a genuine commercialisation platform.
